Amphidromus javanicus (Sowerby, 1841) |
This is a large species known only from western Java. The illustrated specimens came from Unjong Kulon, a peninsula jutting into the Sunda Straights. it's shell fits perfectly into the A. palaceus group, showing the same colors and patterns as many forms in that group, with the exception that it is also covered with dark vertical striations. The lip is thin and curved back but not adnate. The great majority of specimens in this colony are sinistral. Interestingly Amphidromus inversus inversus (Muller, 1774) is found in the same location. |
