Amphidromus inversus inversus (Muller, 1774)

Probably the most widespread Amphidromus species. Amphidromus inversus ranges through much of Southeast Asia, Cambodia, Thailand, Java, Malaya, into Sumatra and east to Borneo and Sulawesi (Celebes) and on several satellite islands throughout this area. It does not occur east of Celebes or north into the Philippines.

 The named subspecies include:

Amphidromus inversus andamensis (Pfeiffer, 1871) from Borneo and surrounding islands

Amphidromus inversus annamiticus (Crosse and Fischer, 1863) from Southeast Asia (not illustrated)
Amphidromus inversus koperbergi  Laidlaw and Solem, 1961 from North Sulawesi (Celebes) (not illustrated)

Southwest Sumatra Island, indonesia

Amphidromus inversus inversus (Muller, 1774)

South Sumatra (48 and 55 mm.) The entire population is this light color form and includes both dextral and sinistral specimens. Collected in the 1970’s.

Amphidromus inversus inversus (Muller, 1774)

An excursion was undertaken to Menado, North Sulawesi (Celebes), the type locality of A. inversus koperbergi where this shell and several like it were found. The type of Amphidromus inversus koperbergi is a dextral shell and only sinistral shells were found in the Menado vicinity. This shell is probably typical Amphidromus inversus and not Amphidromus inversus koperbergi.
