Daedalochila uvulifera (Shuttleworth, 1852) Peninsula Liptooth On Old St. Augustine Rd. In Duval Co., Florida |
During a molluscan survey on 5/11/2016, a single empty 12.7 mm. Daedalochila uvulifera
shell was discovered on an embankment on the south side of Old St.
Augustine Road immediately east of the bridge over Julington Creek.
Also present were a couple dozen empty Daedalochila auriculata
(Say, 1818) [Ocala Liptooth] shells - the largest of which measured
a respectable 17.5 mm. This is the first time that
Daedalochila auriculata has been found east of Julington
Creek and the first time that Daedalochila uvulifera
has been found at this location. Previously, Daedalochila
auriculata and Daedalochila peninsulae (Pilsbry, 1940)
[St. Johns Liptooth] had been found on the west side of the bridge.
