where Mesodon thyroidus have thus far been found in Florida.
The map is based upon local knowledge of northeast Florida
collectors (B. Frank, H. G. Lee, H. McCullagh) and the 96 lots
housed in the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville,
Florida. In northeast Florida (Duval, Clay, Nassau and St.
Johns Counties) the species might best be described as a rarely
found and in very limited numbers but at one particular location very abundant
and easily found (flood plain of Little Black Creek in Clay County).

Plain Of Little Black Creek. In northeast Florida the species has not been found in Duval or Nassau Counties. Finds in the remaining two counties include: St. Johns County - six locations:
