| This species, commonly known as the New Zealand Green Mussel or New Zealand Mussel, is farmed commercially in New Zealand and is a popular food item in Oriental buffet style restaurants in northeast Florida where it served on the half shell - both hot and cold. The three illustrated specimens were acquired at the "King Buffet" Chinese restaurant in Jacksonville, Florida where it was daily fare. |
