This colony of Red Encrusting Tunicates (measuring about 100 mm. across) was photographed intertidally in downtown New Smyrna Beach, Volusia County, Florida on 3/30/2006 by Joel Wooster. The species inhabits nearly any hard substrate in the shallow sub-tidal zone. They are most common on rocks, seawalls, jetties, floating docks and mangrove roots. |
