Praticolella jejuna (Say, 1821) Florida Scrubsnail |
The images below show three of the four members of the genus Praticolella found in northeast Florida. The fourth member of the genus, Praticolella mobiliana (I. Lea, 1841) Choctaw Scrubsnail, is extremely rare and a living specimen was not available to be included in the photographs. Praticolella jejuna is by far the smallest of the four and P. mexicana is the most common with Praticolella griseola only known from a single location (as of July, 2019). All three species were collected in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida during July, 2019. Both Praticolella mexicana and griseola are not native to Florida and are recent arrivals in northeast Florida. |
