Strombus alatus on the sand bar, Salt Run, inside St. Augustine Inlet, Davis Shores, St. Augustine, St. Johns County, Florida, minus tide, 5/25/2021. This species is a relative newcomer to the intertidal fauna of northeast Florida. It was initially recorded from the St. Augustine area in 2008 but had earlier been recorded from the Matanzas Inlet area (about 30 miles south) on 5/30/1976 and twice more in subsequent years. | |
