Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Juveniles Mating |
Euglandina rosea apparently attains sexual maturity while still quite small in size. The two specimens illustrated below (measuring 21 and 22 mm.) were collected in western St. Johns County, Florida on 4/26/2009 and placed in a single makeshift terrarium where they proceeded to mate. It would appear that the species is sufficiently uncommon/dispersed in the wild that when a potential mate is encountered, even in a captive environment, that propagation of the species becomes the first order of business. |
