Thomas Say (1822: 236-237; see above) named this species Ranella caudata and mentioned only a "reddish-brown" coloration. Later the first illustration of this species, an engraving based on a drawing by his wife Lucy (Say, 1832: plate 48 bottom edited into juxtaposition) was published. |
