Daedalochila peninsulae topotype on the left (near DeLand, Volusia Co., Florida) and Daedalochila sp. aff. peninsulae on the right (near St. Catherine, Sumter Co., Florida - 7.3 mm.) The salient distinctions this taxon and D. peninsulae, as depicted in the umbilical view above, appear to be (1) the tighter, shorter arch of its parietal lamella and (2) the prosocline advance and inward pinching of the basal lip as it approaches its parietal terminus. The latter feature produces a major constriction of the inner third of the aperture such as that seen in D. uvulifera and D. bicornuta, shells of which taxa are quite different in other features.
