Pinecrest Hammock 7 (B)

Pinecrest Hammock  7 was mostly comprised of dark-washed shells that clined from marmoratus to floridanus. Some of these specimens might also be called barbouri. On very rare occasions, the cline drifted to brick reddish-shells without the barbouri banding, and these shells were pigeonholed as farnumi. From this, one can get an understanding of how difficult it can be to place an accurate form name on all specimens, and the similarities that occur in floridanus, barbouri, and marmoratus from the same hammock. This lot below were all collected dead by Sigsbee Walker during the 1950's. (MWJ)
