Western Tuamotus, French Polynesia (6.5 mm.). The species is endemic there, and the genus is limited to French Polynesia. It is a terrestrial snail in the family Assimineidae. Its little orange shell is extensively employed in the shellcraft trade, but none of some twenty dealers in this industry interviewed knew its habitat, zoogeography, or taxonomic placement and affinities. |
