Crabbed in runnel, southern Little Talbot Island, Duval Co., Florida 7/1/2005 (24.5 mm.) |
|
Although this species is not uncommon further south on the east coast of Florida (Flagler and Volusia Counties), the above illustrated specimen is the first known record from Duval County. A living specimen was subsequently found at Big Talbot Island in Duval County on 7/3/2008 (about four miles north of where the crabbed specimen was found). On 7/30/2013 Brian Marshall found six live specimens on the south St. Marys River Jetty at Fort Clinch State Park in northern Nassau County. See: Nerita fulgurans Gmelin, 1791 Antillean Nerite |
