|Caecum ibex Dall, 1892 Fossil|
|Scanning Electron Micrographs (SEM) Of Fossil Specimens|
Lower Pinecrest beds, Upper Tamiami Formation, Sarasota County, Florida. SEMs produced in collaboration with Dr. Ann Heatherington, Dept. of Geology, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL. Caecum zaagmani de Jong & Coomans, 1988, known from Bonaire and Aruba, may be descendant. Note that, like Caecum tortile Dall, 1892, Caecum cycloferum de Folin, 1867, and Caecum subspirale Carpenter, 1857, the longitudinal sculpture has a slight clockwise twist in the direction of growth.
