Drainage Ditch Near Grace Lane, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida |
While exploring for terrestrial mollusks in western Duval County on 5/15/2010, Brian Marshall discovered a Pomacea paludosa (Say, 1829) [Florida Applesnail] population in a large drainage ditch that runs south from Grace Lane, just west of John D. Liverman Park, to Normandy Boulevard. Both Pomacea and their egg clutches were in evidence. Although the drainage ditch was not surveyed south of Normandy Boulevard, it appears likely that Pomacea are present in the entire drainage system. |
