Eastern Tiger Swallowtail [Papilio glaucus]

This beauty was was photographed in a sandy area on the shoreline of Lake Oneida, University of North Florida, in southeastern Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida on 4/4/2005. This moist  sandy area has proven quite popular with two species of swallowtails - all of which may be imbibing diluted minerals and salts. Amazingly, the specimen demonstrated no fear of the photographer and who was able to approach to within inches. However, attempts to get the specimen to perch on his finger were unsuccessful.
