This visibly weak juvenile (about 7 inches in length) was photographed on the Goldenrod Nature Trail of the University of North Florida Campus in southeastern Duval County, Florida on 2/23/2005. The youngster appeared to be famished and wasted little time in feeding on tender young plant shoots growing along the trail - virtually ignoring the nearby presence of the photographer.
