Collected by Sir Richard Grindall (1751-1820) - captain and later a Vice-Admiral in the British Royal Navy. The specimens were collected in Vanuatu or New Caledonia between July-September, 1774 while sailing with Captain Cook on Cook’s second voyage (1772-75).
