Pomacea canaliculata (Lamarck, 1822) Depositing Egg Clutch |

This small female was collected from a small creek in a boggy area about 400 meters northwest of the lake on 3/22/2006 and placed in a small aquarium the afternoon of the same date. The next evening the female ascended the aquarium glass and began depositing an egg clutch as shown below. While the species readily deposits egg clutches while in captivity, it usually occurs during the hours of darkness or while in a darkened enclosure. |
