Egg Clutch Being Laid In Ice Chest |

On 8/4/2005 five Pomacea canaliculata (three full adults and two juveniles) were captured in the drainage ditch just south of the concrete box culvert and placed in a small ice chest. Within an hour, two of the adults began mating while the third female adult took advantage of the suddenly available structure and deposited an egg clutch (see images below). Similar egg laying behavior was exhibited by a female on 7/15/2005 when she was left in the ice chest overnight. | |
