Pomacea canaliculata Hatchlings |
These Pomacea canaliculata hatchlings, shown feeding on a piece of iceberg lettuce, are but a few of hundreds hatched in a small home aquarium from two egg clutches obtained from the lake/retention pond on 7/27/2005. The juveniles were photographed on 8/2-3/2005 and measured about 1.5 mm. Even at this early stage of their life their appearance differs significantly from the hatchlings of our native Pomacea paludosa (Say. 1829) [See Image]. |
