Eudolium bairdii (A. E. Verrill and S. Smith, 1881)

What Abbott (1974) and many others have called Eudolium crosseanum (di Monterosato, 1869) is actually E. bairdii (A. E. Verrill and S. Smith, 1881), and Abbott's E. thompsoni McGinty, 1955 is actually E. crosseanum (di Monterosato, 1869)!!  E. thompsoni is a synonym of E. crosseanum (di Monterosato) but not of E. crosseanum of authors (E. bairdii ), which latter species is more common and widespread in the W. Atlantic.  See Marshall, B. A., 1992.  A revision of the Recent species of Eudolium Dall, 1889 (Gastropoda: Tonnoidea) The Nautilus 106(1): 24-38. Feb. 27.
