Otala lactea (Müller, 1774) Milk Snail

    Found on vegetation at southern tip of Pass-A-Grille, St. Pete Beach, Pinellas Co., Florida 11/10/1998 (31 and 33 mm.). Albinos. According to Henry A. Pilsbry (1939: 11), Otala lactea has been present at Pass-A-Grille since 1931, when the species was reported by Mrs. W. G. Fargo. She indicated that they were introduced by the owner of a curio shop, who imported them from Morocco. | Digital Image by Bill Frank.
