Florida Cottonmouth [Agkistrodon piscivorus conanti] |
| This very large specimen was discovered in the roadside swale along County Road 13 near Bass Haven in far western St. Johns County, Florida on 10/2/2010 during a molluscan field survey. Repeated attempts to motivate the viper to flee were all unsuccessful which certainly demonstrates the importance of watching where one is stepping. |
