Unidentified Philomycid Slug |
This unidentified Philomycid slug, measuring about 15-20 mm. in length, was found and photographed by Robert Pilla in Matheson Hammock (Coral Gables), Miami-Dade County, Florida during August, 2008. According to the USDA, this species is also present in the West Indies (Puerto Rico, Trinidad, and Nevis) as well as other locations in Miami-Dade County. The slug is tentatively believed to be in the genus Pallifera. The snail pictured with the slug in the bottom image is Chondropoma dentatum (Say, 1825) [Crenulate Horn]. |
