Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Rosy Wolfsnail - Large Specimen

    When collected the empty Euglandina shell was placed in the car trunk for safe keeping. When checked about an hour later, it was discovered that unbeknownst to this reporter, a live Daedalochila auriculata (Say, 1818) [Ocala Liptooth], had been taking shelter inside the Euglandina shell and was in the process of exiting (chronicled in the image below).

    From heavy vegetation in a swampy area on the west side of US-1 about 4.3 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County, Florida, December 22, 2015 (68.9 mm.).
