Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) ?Feeding On Mollusk Eggs? |
|
Under decomposing hardwood log, in wooded area just north of Faye Road and west of Alta Drive, Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida 3/7/2017 (23 mm.). Despite the Euglandinas diminutive size, at first glance it appeared that the snail was possibly depositing eggs. However, the eggs were round and not oval shaped as is normally associated with Euglandina. A follow-up visit the next day showed that the snail was still present but the eggs were gone and are thus presumed to have been devoured by the snail. |
