Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Probably The Victims Of Cannibalism

Empty shells found under discarded large black plastic trash bag in lower roadside swale on the west side of US-1 about 3.4 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County, Florida 2/28/2022. While the trash bag has been present for at least a week, 48 hours earlier no snails (living or dead) were present beneath it. It appears likely that the pair of juveniles at some point during the 48 hour period sought shelter beneath the bag, were discovered by a much larger Euglandina and subsequently became the victims of cannibalism.
