Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Rosy Wolfsnail |
|
These two large specimens were taken into captivity from the roadside swale along US-1 about 3.1 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County, Florida on 10/27/2018. While in captivity they were introduced to each other and it appeared that they were unsure what action to take next. Initially it looked like mating was in the offing. However, they soon struck the pose shown above which indicated that one of the two was likely to become a meal at which point the pair was separated. The snails measured 69.5 and 67.1 mm., respectively. Also see: Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Rosy Wolfsnail - Large Specimens. |
