Florida Cottonmouth [Agkistrodon piscivorus conanti] Juvenile |
| This juvenile specimen was discovered beneath a discarded plastic bag in the roadside swale along US-1 about 3.1 miles north of International Golf Parkway in St. Johns County, Florida on December 8, 2019. When prodded with a rake, the little guy began actively striking. Usually under similar circumstances Cottonmouths either flee or open their mouth and present a "cottonmouth" display but don't actively strike. |
