Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Predation By Probably Small Mammal

In the roadside swale on the west side of US-1 about 3.4 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County, Florida 12/7/2021. Despite exploring several avenues of attach, to include the spire and dorsum, ultimately only by "peeling back the lip" was the predator able to gain access to the snail. However, this too was only partially successful as about 50% of the snails body remained inside the shell following the attack. The red nail polish on the spire had previously been applied to track the snail's movements through the habitat.
