Pomacea paludosa (Say, 1829) Florida Applesnail Depositing Eggs

    The Pomacea paludosa (pictured below left) was collected from a retention pond along A. C. Skinner Parkway just south of J. T. Turner Butler Boulevard in southeastern Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida on 5/13/2017. The snail was subsequently placed in a bucket and when  darkness fell the snail crawled up the side of the bucket and began depositing an egg clutch (image below, left). The image on the right shows the completed egg clutch the next morning.
