In the roadside swale on the east side of US-1 about 3.4 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County, Florida 09/17/2021 (79.4 mm.). The deceased animal was present when found (top two images). It is theorized that the specimen was struck and killed by the blades of a large mower which had recently mowed the vegetation in the roadside swale. Other than the large dorsal gash, there was no other damage to the shell. |
