Neverita duplicata (Say, 1822) Shark Eye

Probably sensing the approach of their nemesis Neverita duplicata several inches under the sand through vibrations, a group of Donax variabilis seek safety by rising to the surface. It's not unusual for the Donax to completely pop-out of the sand ahead of the foraging Neverita.
