| This gaggle of specimens was photographed by Joel Wooster in far west Volusia County, Florida on 9/1/2007. The species is listed as endangered by the State of Florida due to destruction of the plants caused by the invasive Mexican bromeliad weevil Metamasius callizona - AKA Evil Weevil. |
