Unnamed Hammock Near Pinecrest Hammock 55

This barbouri variety is found in a small hammock roughly 1.5 miles SSW of Pinecrest Hammock 55. The hammock is not listed on typical Pinecrest Liguus charts, but can be found on aerial photographs (Jones, pers. comm.).  Henry Close called this variety "floridanus" in his book "The Liguus Tree Snails of South Florida" (plate 3a, row 1, number 2), but "barbouri" is probably the most correct name.  All these specimens were from planted hammocks. The shells from this hammock grow very large and obese under managed circumstances, and the largest shell here is 68mm.
