Pinecrest Hammock 43

It might be easy to select a different form name for individual specimens, such as Liguus fasciatus marmoratus or even Liguus fasciatus barbouri, but taken as a group, the shells from Pinecrest 43 can be competently described as floridanus clines.  A shell similiar to Collier County 10 (Bloodhound) Liguus fasciatus gloriaslyvaticus was also found in Pinecrest 43 near the turn of the 20th century, but may not survive there today.     These shells fall squarely into the form name floridanus, and are a distinct variety not consistently found elsewhere, to my knowledge. The illustrated specimens were collected in 1937. (MWJ)
