Shells from Pinecrest 32 exhibit a distinct cline from one form to the next. I chose to call the shells Liguus fasciatus floridanus because of the predominately yellowish ground color of the last whorl; Liguus fasciatus barbouri because banding is the predominant feature; and Liguus fasciatus marmoratus because dark motteling is the predominant feature. Some workers might disagree. Archie Jones once said "Call it barbouri on Tuesdays and marmoratus on Thursdays." with shells similar to these. |
