Phrontis acuta (Say, 1822) Sharp Nassa |
|
During a visit to Mayport Naval Station Beach, Jacksonville, Duval Co., Florida during a minus tide on April 6, 2008, this reporter observed a large number of Phrontis acuta active atop the wet sand having left their normal tell-tale trails. Interestingly, almost all of the specimens were found in the unusual position shown below, spires downward, and slowly waving their foot in the air. The purpose of this behavior is not currently known. |
