Pomacea maculata G. Perry, 1810 In Retention Pond At 9475 Baymeadows Road

During a field survey on 9/9/2021 a large population of presumably Pomacea maculata G. Perry, 1810 was discovered in a large retention pond at 9475 Baymeadows Road adjacent to a BP gasoline station. Many Pomacea egg clutches were seen all around the periphery of the pond as well as on vegetation. This retention pond is well known to this reporter and has been periodically checked for freshwater species as far back as 2006. No exotic Pomacea species were ever found. Also see: Baymeadows Road, Southeastern Duval County for 6/9/2006 discussion of the retention pond.
