Pomacea paludosa (Say, 1829) Florida Applesnail Juveniles

As with Applesnail egg laying, continuing observations indicate that the baby snails probably hatch from the egg capsules during the hours of darkness making photography in situ problematic. In the case of the three specimens illustrated below, an egg cluster was collected from the lake and the eggs were opened manually to expose the living juveniles. The specimens were then photographed and returned to the lake.
