Despite its close resemblance to the Verrill species, this snail appears to belong in the superfamily Valvatoidea, which we are just beginning to fully grasp taxonomically. Lower Pinecrest beds, Upper Tamiami Formation, Sarasota County, Florida (top three images - 1.11 mm. and bottom two images 1.24 mm.). SEM produced in collaboration with Dr. Ann Heatherington, Dept. of Geology, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL.
