Cancellaria reticulata (Linnaeus, 1767) Living Specimen

    Intertidal buried in sand about 75 yards south of the south St. Johns River Jetty, Mayport Naval Station Beach, Duval County, Florida 2/7/2009 (30 mm.). Although empty shells of this species are periodically found beached in northeast Florida, the above pictured specimen is only the fourth live specimen this reporter has found in nearly twenty years of active shelling.
