Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Rosy Wolfsnail In Situ In Trail Formation

    Crawling in trail formation through vegetation, roadside swale on the west side of US-1 about 3.3 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County, Florida 12/15/2020. In the past identical behavior involving the species has been observed at other locations in northeast Florida. It is believed to represent a snail seeking a mate and using the leading specimens scent trail to make the connection. The trailing specimen measured a respectable 83.8 mm. making it the second largest live specimen ever found at this locality in five years of  surveys.
