Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) And Eggs

The Euglandina pictured below was taken into captivity from the roadside swale on the west side of US-1 about 3.1 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway in northern St. Johns County, Florida during February, 2019. On 3/1/2019 the snail deposited a clutch of 39 eggs. This represents the third large egg clutch deposited by a captive Euglandina this year. One of the previous egg clutches also contained 39 ova while the other had 41. (See: Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Rosy Wolfsnail - Large Specimen). In 2011 a captive Euglandina deposited an egg clutch containing 49 ova while a second specimen deposited a clutch containing 35 ova.
