Euglandina rosea (Férussac, 1821) Rosy Wolfsnail Cannibalism

Buried in grass, roadside swale on the west side of US-1 about 3.4 miles northwest of International Golf Parkway, St. Johns County, Florida 2/24/2022. When initially discovered it was believed that the pair were engaged in mating activity. However,  it was soon obvious that the larger specimen had in fact just partially devoured the smaller of the two with only about fifty percent of the snail's body remaining. The two had previously been tagged with red nail polish in order to monitor their movements through the habitat.
